Free check

Free kVA check for business electricity supplies.

A free check of the agreed supply capacity (kVA) on your half-hourly electricity meters, to see whether you pay for capacity you do not use.

What kVA means on your bill

Half-hourly electricity supplies usually have an agreed supply capacity, measured in kVA. Network charges for that capacity are billed every day, whether or not the site ever draws it.

  • Agreed capacity
  • Capacity charges
  • Half-hourly meters

Why it matters

If the agreed capacity is far above the site's real peak demand, part of every bill pays for headroom that is never used. If demand goes above it, excess capacity charges can apply instead.

  • Unused headroom
  • Excess capacity charges
  • Daily charges

What we check

We compare the capacity on your bills with the peak demand in your half-hourly data, and check the capacity and excess charges against the published network rates for your region.

What you provide

Recent electricity bills, and either your half-hourly data or a Letter of Authority so we can request it on your behalf.

What happens next

If a change looks worthwhile, we explain the options and can help you ask the network operator. Lowering capacity is not always reversible on the same terms, so nothing is changed without your approval.

Process

How the work moves forward

  1. 01

Clarify the requirement, sites, utilities, suppliers, contract position and decision timetable.

Gather bills, contracts, authority documents, meter identifiers and any supplier correspondence.

  3. 03

Check the information for gaps, inconsistencies, contract dates, account ownership and supplier constraints.

  4. 04

Agree the next action with the customer, including procurement, account correction, supplier evidence or ongoing management.

  5. 05

Submit the required request, tender, quotation pack or supplier action with the right supporting information.

  6. 06

Track responses, compare the commercial or operational position, and present next actions for customer approval.

  7. 07

Follow through after submission or signature where included in the agreed service scope.

FAQs

Is the kVA check really free?

Yes. The check costs you nothing, and there is no obligation to use Dernetz for anything else afterwards.

Which sites benefit from a kVA check?

Mainly sites with half-hourly electricity meters, such as larger offices, venues, schools, factories and warehouses, where an agreed supply capacity is billed every day.

Can lowering capacity cause problems?

It can if demand later rises above the new level, because excess capacity charges may apply and increasing capacity again can depend on the network operator. That is why the check looks at your real peak demand first.

Does Dernetz guarantee a saving or recovery?

No. Dernetz can support procurement, validation, evidence gathering and supplier follow-through, but outcomes depend on supplier pricing, contract terms, consumption, market conditions and third-party decisions.

Who makes the final commercial decision?

The customer remains responsible for approving supplier contracts, commercial recommendations, Letters of Authority and material account actions. Dernetz can prepare information and support the process.

How does the Dernetz Platform support the service?

The platform helps organise sites, meters, contracts, documents, tasks, supplier actions and follow-up in one controlled workspace, with Joji AI assisting where appropriate and human oversight retained.
